Costa Concordia Accident

29 people remain missing amid fear of environmental disaster as the cruise liner Costa Concordia sinking on the coast of Italy is said to be carrying about 50 tonnes of oil which might cause environmental disaster if it leaks into the sea. The emergency services confirmed that all the areas of the liner that are above water had now been searched, indicating faint hopes of finding more survivors. However, the captain of the ship has been taken into custody and charged with multiple manslaughter due to the way he handled the evacuation of passengers during the accident that led to the ship’s sinking.
