ENTERTAINMENT PERSONALITIES: NEW CROP OF POLITICIANS WITH THE MASSES AT HEART

It has been observed that Nigerian entertainment personalities are gradually shifting their focus to politics. This has been referred to as new crop of politicians in the field of Nigerian politics. At the last count, not less than six Nollywood entertainers have indicated interest in vying for political positions in our great country Nigeria.
My own humble analysis and opinion is that this collection of new politicians most likely has the interest of the masses at heart unlike the other politicians we are used to.

My reasons for this theory are not far-fetched because their initial areas of specialisation where basically meant to make the masses happy or keep them entertained. Logically they
are out for the wellbeing or happiness of the masses. (yes or no, I stand to be corrected). What do you think..................

The following are briefs on the stars who have so far indicated interest in vying for political positions in the country.

First among my list is

Desmond Elliot:

The Nollywood actor few months ago indicated his interest to run for a seat in the Lagos State House of Representatives come 2015. In an interview with one of the national dailies recently, the actor stated his reason for delving into politics as a means of giving back to the society whatever blessings he has gotten from God. He specifically mentioned the youths as his target of interest when elected. He lamented the lack of jobs in the country as a frustrating phenomenon that can make the society uncomfortable for everyone. Furthermore, he posited agriculture as a means of promoting nation building and stated his readiness to support such.

 Kate Henshaw

This veteran Nigerian actress has also declared her interest to venture into politics. It was gathered that the actress a native of Cross Rivers State is vying for a seat in the Federal House of Representatives to represent her Calabar Municipal/Odukpani Federal Constituency.  The 43 year old actress made her political interest known on Saturday, July 19, which was her birthday and officially unveiled her campaign website same day.
According to her, she plans to make clean water and good roads available to the masses, as she reiterated her desire to showcase a humane way of being in a leadership stool. Another of her focus according to her is the provision of affordable education and quality healthcare, especially for expecting and young mothers, the less privileged and the physically challenged.”

 Bob Manuel Udokwu

Bob Manuel, a pioneer Nollywood actor, who hails from Idemili North in Anambra State, based his decision to join politics on developing and transforming his State in line with the vision of the present administration. Bob-Manuel, a former SA to Governor Peter Obi, therefore called for prayers and support to enable him achieve his ambition to serve his people.

Julius Agwu

Julius Agwu who came to the limelight with his special kind of comedy in the Nigerian scene is not left out in the politics movement. According to current events, it is now official that the renowned comedian has declared his intentions to run for the governorship seat of Rivers State in 2015. The successful comedian says he decided to join the governorship race after pressure from his people to lead them. Born on April 7th, 1973 the comedian hails from Choba in Obio /Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Funke Adesina

Funke, a popular Yoruba actress, who recently sent a BBM broadcast informing her contacts of her political ambition, intends running for a seat In the Oyo state House of Assembly,  come 2015. She has made her intention to contest for the seat of the Ibadan South-East constituency in the House of Assembly. Adesiyan, who has featured in several blockbuster movies and series of TV soaps, has already started having support from fans and friends who have resorted to using her picture as their Display Picture (DP).

Abolore Akande (9Ice)

In another related development, the Gongo Aso crooner, Abolore Akande, known as 9Ice is also in the race. The artist who somewhat disappeared from the music scene for a while has indicated his interest to run for the House of Representatives., only this time as a political aspirant, of a yet-to-be declared political party not in the field of music.
