Locally transmitted Zika in the U.S.A

First case of mosquito transmitted Zika virus has been recorded in America. Florida health officials confirmed infection of 4 individuals with the Zika virus in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. The infected persons are believed to have been infected by local mosquitoes in the area. Although some tests carried out on trapped mosquitoes did not yield any positive result, Officials believe the local transmission has not expanded beyond the particular zone where the first individuals recorded. Health officials have commenced activities geared towards curbing the spread of the virus.
