New Government in Nigeria: Lessons to learn

The new administration has started in Nigeria, this signifies a new era, new ideas; new phase with high expectations. The country and its populace showed desire for a change which brought about the current administration of Muhammadu Buhari.

With the swearing in of the new government on 29th May 2015, a new phase just began. What next? Or should I say what other step we need to take in order to experience the much expected change in the country.

In my humble opinion, I expect everyone to start the change in his own little way so that together we can move forward. The change we desire can never come from one source. Our orientation, our mindset and behaviour needs to drive the change to be realised in every sphere of our existence in this nation.

What we should do

We should not sit down and be analysing speeches of the inauguration, instead, we should make our own resolutions within ourselves how we can contribute to the new Nigeria. While we are still analysing who the President belongs to and who he does not belong to, other serious spirited individuals are checking ways in which to contribute their own quota to make the new government a success.  We should not go online to check which of the President’s son is cute and in the process mistake someone for another instead we should examine the occasion and critically analyse  lessons of life that can be gotten from such events.

We should not be distracted by dress codes or who wore shoes with stockings or whose wife wore wrist watches that can buy you two brand new cars, instead, we should notice and sink in the lessons of not giving up in a fight to succeed. We should know that in this fight for success, you might not necessarily go to the fight alone before you can succeed. Sometimes in life, you might need a companion or companions of like minds before victory is achieved. We should learn there is always a lot of space at the top of the ladder because fewer people ventures there, so you might need one or two people to partner with before you can get there. Do not hesitate to carry them along because there will still be space for them when you people get there.

We should neither sit on the fence waiting for the slightest step to condemn in the new administration, nor start pointing out unnecessary distracting issues to discuss as events unfold. Rather, we should start changing our own Nigeria as much and as little as we can.

Our bedroom is part of Nigeria, let us change it and make it wear a new look. Our footsteps are being imprinted on Nigerian soil; let us match correctly towards a good objective. Our neighbours are a larger Nigeria which we can start changing too, shouldn’t we start from all those places.

You will say what of you writer?...

I will do my own contribution by changing my style. I want a style that would glorify the efforts of our
teaming youth population. I want a style that will continuously stand by the struggling man on the street, be a consolation to him, be a motivation to him, be a blog he will look up to, every passing day. Be a focus for achieving a goal and meaningful living.

Passionately let us drive
Nigeria to the next level

I love my country. What of you.
