HISTORY WANTS TO REPEAT SOMEWHERE

History repeats itself we all know, but repeating in a very short time is very uncommon. There are wide speculations that the Syrian President, Bashar Assad is toeing the line of the former Libyan strong man Muammar Ghadafi as he urged his military on Thursday  to boost its fight against rebels. Also, his written call to arms only deepened a mystery over his whereabouts two weeks after a bomb penetrated his inner circle. It is known that Assad has not spoken publicly since a July 18 bombing killed four of his top security officials— including his brother-in-law—during a rebel assault on the capital, Damascus. Does these line of events remind you of any country or any past leadership?

SSS parades alleged killers of Oshiomhole’s aid

Late Oyerinde Olaitan
The State Security Service (SSS) has paraded members of a six-man gang who killed the principal private secretary to the Edo State governor, Mr Olaitan Oyerinde.
Mr Oyerinde Olaitan was shot and killed at his residence in Benin City by suspected assassins on the 4th of May, 2012.
Parading the suspects in Abuja, spokesperson of the secret service, Marilyn Ogar said the late Oyerinde was murdered by Mohammed Abdullahi, Raymond Origbo and Chikezie Edeh.
She further revealed that items stolen from his residence on the night of his murder were bought by Saidu Yakubu, Sani Abdullahi and Hassan Bashiru.
Mrs Ogar appealed to members of the public to volunteer useful information to security agencies in order to make Nigeria a safer place. She added that the suspects will be handed over to the police for criminal prosecution.
Answering questions from journalists, a member of the gang, Chikezie Edeh disclosed that the late Oyerinde was actually shot by the leader of the gang, Mohammed Abdullahi who claimed that he thought the deceased was going to attack him.

HIGHEST TRENDS FOR LAST WEEK

Dr Mrs Patience Jonathan

Last week, the news revolved around these personalities whose pictures appear on this page. This was collected through public opinions and samples I carried out within the week. Although am not to decide or take sides in the topic that made them popular, I just want to say the sure made good headlines. The discussion of the First Lady’s appointment as Permanent Secretary in the Bayelsa State Ministry made so much waves, it was seconded by the continuation of Farouk and Otedola’s bribery case which has taken another dimension as I prophesied last week, then the Edo State Governorship election which is currently on and generating huge trend on twitter. Next week, our searchlight will still not leave Edo State and Otedola/Farouk. However, they might not be among the first three trending topics.
Mr Femi Otedola

Mr. Yasser Arafat was 75 when he died Nov. 11, 2004, in a French military hospital. He had been airlifted to the facility just weeks earlier with a mysterious illness, after being confined by Israel for three years to his West Bank headquarters.
The discovery of traces of a radioactive agent on clothing reportedly worn by Yasser Arafat in his final days reignited a cauldron of conspiracy theories Wednesday about the mysterious death of the long-time Palestinian leader. This discovery was made by a Swiss lab assigned by Mr Arafat’s widow Suha. The discovery of traces of polonium-210 in clothing and other belongings provided by Arafat’s wife, has subsequently led to call for the late leader’s body to be exhumed for further examination. The development was first reported by the Al-Jazeera satellite channel.

HEADLINES SO FAR

Just understood that no condition lasts forever; I was giving myself excuses for not updating my blog when I suddenly lost my modem. I started crying over the modem as I contemplated which network to purchase, next my laptop screen just cracked. I thought it was the biggest thing happening  in town but never knew that headlines kept changing and I was just in one place. When I became conscious of my environment, I heard of Boko Haram assault somewhere in the North, then, Honourable Hembe accused Aruma Oteh of spending government’s money recklessly; next, it was Aruma Oteh’s turn to accuse Hembe of demanding bribe from her and receiving money without using it for what it was meant for. What happened again was Hembe’s suspension as the House Committee Chairman investigating near collapse of Nigeria Stock Exchange. Subsequently, EFCC stepped into the case and Oteh’s removal from her office was nearly drowned by Dana Air crash in Lagos. The country entered into mourning mood with the crash, next event was probe of the air crash, next, identification of victims caused such problems that required intervention from foreign countries in form of  DNA. The effect was fear of the Nigerian airspace which griped many then what......the air crash thing seemed to last forever but before we say Jack, the name Otedola and Farouk Lawan took every available space in the print and electronic media. This was another allegation of bribery and counter allegation between the continuation of that news and another, our renowned Pastor Chris Okotie announced his divorce with his wife... Oh I think am loosing count of events, then, the flood in Lagos and some other states with its devastating effects. All these are not with the interruption of the dreaded boko haram here and there.   I can predict some events that will happen in the nearest future. These are that Edo State will conduct governorship election soon, and the story will nearly overshadow every event in the nation, then, that alleged bribe money given to Honourable Farouk Lawan will never be found. Am all attentive now for future events, so help us God.
